Palmdale, CA, May 10, 2020 — Rolando Navarro has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred on May 5 in Palmdale. Rolando Navarro, a 44-year-old Lancaster resident, was reportedly attempting to cross the southbound Antelope Valley Freeway aka State Route 14, in the vicinity of Palmdale Boulevard. At about 4:55 a.m., the man was struck by a Toyota Corolla that, as per information attributed to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Toyota — 38-year-old Palmdale resident Diego Hernandez, pulled over and called 911. First-responders arrived and declared Rolando Navarro dead at the scene. The driver was unhurt. The CHP in Antelope Valley says that it has not made a determination on the possibility that substances were involved in the tragic incident but it is requesting the help of any witnesses as the investigation continues.
