A 19-year-old UC Davis freshman died in a collision at Dairy Road and Hutchison Drive, an intersection believed dangerous by many in the UC community.
David, CA, May 27, 2022 – Tris Yasay has been identified by authorities as the victim in a collision involving a bicycle and garbage truck that occurred on May 25 on the UC Davis Campus. Tris Yasay, a 19-year-old Davis freshman, was riding a bicycle at the intersection of Dairy Road and Hutchison Drive when she was struck at about 8:00 a.m. by a garbage truck for reasons that have not been described. First-responders arrived immediately and took the gravely injured student to UC Davis Medical Center, where the sustainable agriculture major tragically passed away. No details about the driver of the garbage truck have been provided however, students say that they consider the intersection dangerous because of blind spots. The Davis Police Department is investigating the collision.
