Hit-and-Run Incident in Florida Caught on Dashcam
In a dramatic hit-and-run incident over the weekend, a red Camaro collided with a white SUV on Interstate 4 in Orange County, Florida. The crash, captured on dashcam, has prompted a search for three men who fled the scene.
The accident occurred near Orange City, close to Orlando. The video shows the Camaro attempting to merge into the left lane, striking the SUV from behind. The impact caused the SUV to overturn and veer off the road, scattering debris across the highway.
After the collision, the Camaro stopped in the right-side median. Witnesses reported seeing three men exit the vehicle and flee on foot. They were later picked up by another car, according to Florida State Troopers.
The woman driving the SUV did not require immediate transport from the scene, but details about her injuries remain undisclosed.
In 2023, Florida recorded over 100,000 hit-and-run incidents, as reported by the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. State laws impose severe penalties for leaving the scene of an accident. If injuries occur, the driver faces a second- or third-degree felony, carrying up to five years in prison. In fatal cases, the charge escalates to a first-degree felony, with a potential 30-year sentence.
The FLHSMV advises, “If you are involved in a crash, stay at the scene and call for help. It’s not just the law—you could save a life.”
