Yarely Jasso-Gomez, age 12, has been identified by authorities as the victims in a collision that occurred on July 19 in Modesto. The girl, a local resident, was sitting in the back of a Nissan Altima next to her older brother and being driven by her father that was turning from Plaza Parkway onto Sisk Road at about 7:00 p.m. At the same time a vehicle described as a 2000s Jeep Laredo driven by Kelley Ball, 45, allegedly ran through a red light and t-boned the Nissan. First-responders said that the young girl died at the scene. Meanwhile, her 15-year-old brother was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area by air while her father was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and her mother received only minor injuries.
Police allege that Ms. Ball attempted to flee the scene of the crash in her bare feet, entering a neary Wal-Mart and allegedly attempting to steal a facemask to hide her identity. The was determined to be under the influence and had a prior history of DUI convcitions and arrested on multiple charges including murder.
