Vito DiGiorgio, a 78-year old resident of San Juan Capistrano, has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred in Dana Point on February 23. Mr. DiGiorgio was crossing Pacific Coast Highway after 6:00 p.m. along with his wife, not using a crosswalk. He was reportedly first struck by a Range Rover and the force of the collision threw him into the opposing lane, where he was then hit by two additional vehicles, a Toyota Solara and a Dodge Ram. Mr. DiGiorgio died at the scene but his wife was unhurt. The three drivers all stopped; no DUIs are suspected and no charges have been made.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
