Victor Talavera has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run collision that took place on July 24 in Long Beach. Mr. Talavera, a 57-year-old employee of a liquor store, allegedly witnessed Jamal Darby, steal items from the store. Mr. Talavera chased Mr. Darby and, in an attempt to stop him, attached himself to the hood of Mr. Darby’s automobile. Sources reportedly allege that the driver may have deliberately maneuvered his vehicle to throw Mr. Talavera onto the road on Anaheim Street on the way to Magnolia Avenue, killing the man at the scene. Authorities say that the suspect fled the scene but was found on the morning of August 12 in South Los Angeles and arrested on multiple charges including murder and burglary. The strange and tragic case remains under investigation.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
