California Highway Patrol officers responded to the area of East Gerard Avenue and South Arboleda Drive at approximately 4:35 p.m., for reports of a solo vehicle rollover collision.

CHP officers determined that a 15-year-old male Juvenile was driving eastbound on Gerard Avenue just West of Arboleda Avenue at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle.

According to CHP public information officer Zuniga, the vehicle rolled several times and collided with a PG&E pole.

The 18-year-old passenger Francisco Rodriguez Miranda from Planada sustained major injuries and was flown to Modesto Memorial Medical Center.

The 15-year-old male juvenile was arrested and taken to Mercy Medical Center in Merced for medical clearance and will be booked at the Merced Juvenile Center for felony DUI.
