MONTGOMERY CREEK, Calif. — A Fresno woman injured in a solo-vehicle rollover crash late last night is recovering and doing much better, according to the victim’s brother.
The crash, which caused SR-299E to be partially closed with one-way traffic implemented, happened along a steep and notoriously dangerous section of the rural mountain highway called Potato Cut; near a runaway truck ramp between Webster Way and Woodhill Dr.
The victim’s brother, Danny Duren Sr., has since told SCNS that his sister was driving home to Fresno and had just dropped her daughter off at his residence just minutes before the crash occurred.
Saying the accident “could have been much worse,” Duren explained that his sister lost control while negotiating the tight curves along that section of highway and that his sister’s Chevy rolled at least three times before coming to rest on its roof.
Contacted for more information, a CHP representative said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

MONTGOMERY CREEK, Calif. — Officials are at the scene of a solo-vehicle rollover accident that happened in the Montgomery Creek area this evening, Tuesday, June 2.
A woman was injured in the crash, which occurred on a steep and notoriously dangerous section of SR-299E, between Webster Way and Woodhill Dr.
Although the crash caused the roadway to be partially closed with one-way traffic implemented, no significant delays were reported by area residents and late-night commuters.
CHP and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10 p..m., after receiving reports of a vehicle that overturned on the winding mountain highway, according to a CHP incident log and official radio traffic.
The 911 caller reported coming upon the accident and finding a woman outside her wrecked and overturned vehicle. The caller also reported the victim was injured and requested an ambulance and other emergency personnel respond to the scene.

When officials arrived they found a dark-colored Chevy Cobalt upside down on its roof with major damage. A firefighter at the scene advised the vehicle had rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof.
An ambulance arrived at the scene around 10:40 p.m. and was still evaluating the injured driver at the time of this report.
It was not immediately known if the victim was transported to an area hospital and CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
