Tran Thanhminh has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged DUI hit-and-run pedestrian collision that took place on December 17 in Oceanside. Mr. Thanhminh, a 65-year old local resident and restaurant owner, walking home with his wife after work, when he was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was allegedly driven by Wesley Stuart, 27 and also a resident of Oceanside, while in the crosswalk at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Douglas Drive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Stuart and a male passenger fled the scene on foot but were later found by the authorities. Mr. Stuart was arrested on multiple charges including vehicular manslaughter. Prior to the tragic incident, Mr. Stuart’s pickup had already been involved in an accident with a Ford F-150 pickup while traveling at a high speed and was attempting to flee that crash.
