Taylor Sorg, 16, Dead in Santa Rosa Car Accident; Kaitlyn Tyndall Injured

Taylor Sorg, a 16-year-old student at Maria Carrillo High School, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Santa Rosa on July 1. Another 16-year-old student, Kaitlyn Tyndall, has been seriously injured. The teenagers were passengers in a car being driven by a third teenager, who was driving on a restricted license she had had for two months that barred driving with other teens or after 11:00 p.m. At approximately 12:20 a.m., the Lincoln MK2 the three girls were in allegedly was driving over the speed limit and then went through a stop sign at the meeting of Skyfarm Drive and Thomas Lake Harris Drive. The young driver then apparently lost control of the vehicle which ended up in an embankment below and hitting trees in a golf course before finally stopping. The two youngsters were ejected from the vehicle; authorities say they believe the girls may not have been wearing seatbelts. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, authorities say, was uninjured and has been charged with manslaughter. A number of teens, who were following behind and stopped to help after the tragedy, are believed to have witnessed the tragedy as an investigation continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
