Steven Pacatte has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a Sonoma Couty three-vehicle collision that occurred on December 12 at approximately 5:30 in the morning. Mr. Pacatte was driving on Occidental Road in his Chevrolet Silverado when reports indicate that he tried to pass a garbage truck but tragically collided with Chevrolet Suburban headed in the opposite direction. Both Mr. Pacatte and the driver of the Suburban were taken to an area hospital. Mr. Pacatte died of his injuries while the woman is receiving medical care. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is conducting an investigation. Mr. Pacatte was a 34-year-old resident of Monte Rio and a firefighter for the San Francisco Fire Department.
