Maria del Carmen Rodriguez, 48, and Stephanie Rodriguez, 25 have been identified by authorities as the deceased in a chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles that took place on January 21 in Vista. The women, residents of Santa Ana, were stopped on Highway 76 were in a Hyundai Sonata when the vehicle was hit from the rear by a Chevrolet Slverado pick-up truck. The Hyundai struck a Mazda SUV, which in turn struck a Ford Fusion. Authorities say that the two women died at the scene. A male passenger in the Hyundai was also hospitalized with severe injuries. Authorities say that they do not currently believe that a DUI was involved in the tragedy. An investigation is underway.
