Stephanie Gonzalez, a 12-year-old Wheatland resident, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a tragic multi-vehicle collision, allegedly related to texting, that injured five other individuals. The accident occurred July 30 shortly before 4:30 p.m on Highway 99 in Sutter County. The young girl was a passenger in an Acura Integra that was rear-ended by a Ford F-250 pick-up truck driven by Omer Darz Gorsi, a 24-year-old resident of Live Oak. Mr. Gorsi was allegedly texting while driving and failed to see that traffic in front of him had slowed down. The child was thrown from the car. First responders took her for medical treatment by helicopter, reports say, but she perished from her injuries. An investigation is ongoing but no arrests have been made.
