Stanley Crossland has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision that took place in Merced County in the vicinity of Los Banos on November 11. Mr. Crossland, a 51-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was attempting to change tires on his pickup truck, which had suffered a blow-out, on the side of the 5 Freeway at roughly 8:30 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. By the time first-responders arrived at the scene, the man was dead, reports say. The driver of the vehicle that killed Mr. Crossland apparently fled the scene and is presumably being sought by police as an investigation continues.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
