Soledad Paniagua, 50, and Juan Lopez, 32, have been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision that occurred on August 27 in Bakersfield. Mr. Lopez was driving a Toyota Corolla on Bear Mountain Boulevard, which allegedly veered into the opposing lane near Cuda Drive. The Toyota collided with a PT Cruiser. Soledad Paniagua was a passenger in that vehicle. Both victims died at the scene. Three others were airlifted for treatment. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the tragic incident.
