Sabah Aso, 64, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in an apparent head-on collision that occurred on August 3 in Jamul. Mr. Aso was apparently driving a mid-2000s Toyota shortly before 1:00 p.m. when a Ford Expedition in opposing traffic, lost control, went through a railing, and crossed into Mr. Aso’s lane. The collision caused the Ford to veer off the highway and burst into flame, killing Mr. Aso at the scene. The 32-year-old motorist in the Expedition was seriously injured and taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital. The California Highway Patrol is investigation the cause of the accident.
