Rufino Miranda has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian collision described by authorities as “gruesome” that took place in South Los Angeles on December 4. Video footage of the apparent crime was release on December 11. Mr. Miranda, 47, was crossing the street at the intersection 81st Street and Avalon Boulevard when he was struck by a black automobile at roughly 9:20 p.m. The released footage reportedly shows the victim becoming lodged on the car’s hood, then the car backing up to dislodge the man, before turning around to flee the scene. A $50,000 award is being offered for information and the LAPD traffic division is seeking out witnesses including anonymous tipsters.
