Rolando Mora Labandelo has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision that took place in Otay Mesa on January 7. Mr. Labandelo, a 21-year-old resident of San Ysidro, was driving a Chrysler 300 luxury car at roughly 9:15 p.m with a group of teenage passengers. He was driving the group home after a visit to an area trampoline park. The young driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while driving on State Route 95. The car wound up colliding with a guardrail. At the point, Mr. Labandelo and one of the youngsters were apparently ejected from the vehicle and perished from his injuries before he could be taken for treatment. A 18-year-old passenger named Gustavo reportedly also received significant but not life-threatening injuries. Some of the passengers reportedly had to be rescued from the Chrysler by first-responders. The tragic accident remains under investigation.
