Desert Hot Springs, CA November 4, 2020 — Raul Silva-Chavez has been identified by authorities as the victim in a two-vehicle collision that occurred November 2 in Cathedral City. Raul Silva-Chavez, a 23-year-old local resident, was driving a Nissan 350Z two-seater prior to 12:15 p.m. on Palm Drive when the California Highway Patrol indicated that his car appeared to move into another lane while driving at a high speed and colliding frontally with a pickup truck at the intersection with 20th Avenue. Also involved were three other vehicles driving behind. Raul Silva-Chavez, who the reports says was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to an area hospital for treatment but tragically died soon after. The driver of the pickup reportedly received minor facial cuts and Hyundai Elontra reportedly caught fire but not injuries resulted.
