Oumar Bangoura, a 12-year-old Live Oak resident, has been identified by authorities as the victim in an apparent solo car collision that occurred in Santa Cruz County on June 21. The child was riding in an allegedly stolen Toyota Prius on Soquel San Jose Road shortly before 5:00 a.m. when the 15-year-old driver reportedly lost control of the car and ran it into a tree. The boy reportedly died from his injuries at the scene. The 15-year old driver was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries. Since the 15-year-old was allegedly driving without a license, legal consequences may be likely. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the tragedy.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
