MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — A woman was killed and a man suffered serious injuries after a crash in Moreno Valley left them trapped inside a pickup truck late Thursday evening, June 11.
The deadly accident happened at the intersection of Pigeon Pass Rd. and Ironwood Ave., according to officials investigating the cause of the crash.
Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with City of Moreno Valley firefighters and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene about 11:46 p.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Loucks later reported.
When deputies arrived they found a pickup truck with two occupants trapped inside it, explained Loucks, who said, “Deputies and an off-duty emergency medical technician began rendering medical aid to the occupants.”
“Minutes later, paramedics from the Moreno Valley Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived on-scene and began advanced life support measures as well, said Loucks.
After extricating the victims from the truck, both occupants were transported to an area hospital, where the female passenger succumbed to her injuries.
The victim has not yet been publicly identified, pending notification of the woman’s family.
Based on the circumstances, members of Moreno Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, which is ongoing.
During their investigation, deputies called for the temporary closure of the intersection; which remained closed for about three hours.
