Miguel Naranjo has been identified by authorities as the victim in a collision involving his moped and a car that occurred on the evening of September 20 in Turlock. Mr. Naranjo, a 38-year-old local resident, was riding a 2008 Fantic Motor Lei moped heading east on W. Main Street prior to 9:46 p.m. Police allege that a Honda sedan driven by Cassidy Bessey, 18, struck the moped from behind because Mr. Bessey failed to see it. Mr. Naranjo, who may not have been wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike. The teen driver, who reports indicated was unhurt, remained at the scene while a helpful bystander performed CPR on the Turlock man. The victim was taken to an area hospital but tragically died from his injuries. Authorities are investigating the tragic case.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
