Michael Robert Keyser has been identified by authorities as one of two deceased victims in a pair of related collisions that took place in Apple Valley on January 19. Mr. Keyser, a 49-year-old resident of Hesperia, was driving a recent model Mazda 3 on the Interstate 15 at some time prior to 4:15 a.m. when he came upon the scene of an earlier accident involving a truck. Mr. Keyser pulled over, got out of his car and went to help the truck’s driver who was still in the cab. At the same moment, another big rig collided with the downed truck causing the first truck to burst into flames and killing both Mr. Keyser and the truck’s driver. The driver of the second truck, Michael Hensley, of Russellville in the state of Tennessee, apparently did not see the first truck. The tragic accident found Mr. Hensley acting in character as he had been awarded for his bravery in 1990 when he rescued a man from a burning car. The tragic case is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol in Barstow, which is seeking witnesses.
