Matthew Ryan Adams and Christian Zurita have been identified by authorities as the deceased in a wrong-way two-vehicle collision that took place in Carlsbad on January 13. Lance Corporal Adams, a 19-year-old Marine originally from Orem, Utah was heading north on the Interstate 5 at 12:20 a.m. in an automobile when he collided head-on with a Ford F-150 pickup being driven by Mr. Zurita, 42, which was veered into the opposing lane, crashing into Corporal Adams’ car. Authorities allege that Mr. Zurita had been involved in a high speed pursuit with authorities. Police had ended the chase – which allegedly began with Mr. Zurita failed to pull over in Carlsbad – and authorities were monitoring the car when crash occurred, reports indicate.
