Mason Parnell has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision involving a number of cars that occurred on April 16 in Corona. Mr. Parnell was driving a Ford Focus some time prior to 12:45 a.m. heading east on the 91 Freeway when his car collided with a Honda Accord. The Ford was propelled into another lane of traffic and may have lost its lights in the collision. It’s possible, reports indicate, the driver of a Mini Cooper did not see the Ford and struck it. The Mini Cooper, in turn, was hit from the rear by a Toyota Corolla. The force of the second collision apparently caused Mr. Parnell, a 19-year-old Bakersfield resident, to be ejected from the car and killed. Another young man who was a passenger in the focus, a 20-year-old Walnut resident, was taken to an area hospital with injuries. Authorities have not said if there were any injuries in the other vehicles involved in the deadly incident.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
