Mark Neives-Pina, 11, has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in a traffic collision involving a big-rig and pickup truck that occurred on July 11 in Willows. The boy was a passenger in a Toyota pickup trick being driven late at night on the Interstate 5 by Jose Neives 48 and, like Mark, a San Jose resident. At about 12:05 a.m., a Freightliner overturned that was driven by Brian Lam, a 58-year-old resident of Auburn, Washingon. A collision ensued that killed the young Mark and badly injured another passenger, 46-year-old Marie Villasenor. Both she and Mr. Nieves were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Mr. Lam also received less serious injuries.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased boy during this very difficult time. Our thoughts also go out to the injured individuals.
