Los Angeles, CA, December 10, 2020 — Margarita Reyes has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in a four-vehicle chain-reaction traffic collision that occurred on December 9 in an unincorporated area off South Los Angeles that also seriously injured three men and hurt perhaps several others. As described by the California Highway Patrol, Margarita Reyes, a 54-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was a passenger in a 2014 Nissan being driven by George Ortega, a 20-year-old LA resident at about 6:40 p.m. The Nissan was driving up Compton Avenue when it collided with a 2005 Toyota headed in the opposite direction reportedly being driven by John Cardenas, a 23-year-old resident of Compton.. The Toyota then collided with a 2015 Nissan which, in turn, struck with a Metro bus driving down Compton Ave. Margarita Reyes died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the second Nissan, 39-year-old Los Angeles resident Faustino Acosta, was among the seriously injured alongside George Ortega and John Cardenas. Several other passengers may have been injured, one seriously. Reports indicate that no one in the bus was injured. An investigation into the crash continues.
