Marcelino Escobedo has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that took place in Tulare on January 9. Mr. Escobedo was crossing Inyo Street at roughly 6:45 p.m. near the crossing with D Street when a vehicle described by authorities as Nissan Quest from the late 20th century. The alleged driver of the car, 50-year-old Leonardo Villasenor then fled the scene without stopping to help, authorities charge. First-responders took Mr. Escobedo to an area hospital where he died a few days later. Meanwhile, authorities have arrested Mr. Villasenor on multiple charges and say the suspect did not offer the location of his car, which is believed to have sustained front-end damage. The Tulare Police Department is investigating the tragic incident and are seeking out witnesses.
