Kurt Scheel Killed in Palm Desert Pedestrian Accident

Kurt Scheel has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred on February 27 in Palm Desert.  Mr. Scheel, a 52-year-old Rancho Mirage, resident, was reportedly in a crosswalk at the intersection of Dinah Shore Drive and Miriam Way but possibly crossing against a red light prior to 6:00 p.m. when he was hit by a Chevrolet Suburban. First responders arrived and attempted to help the victim but he sadly died at the scene. Reports indicate that the 34-year-old driver of the Suburban remained at the scene and cooperated. The case remains under investigation.
