Kim Lieng Dao has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian accident involving two vehicles that occurred on July 4 in Fountain Valley. Ms. Dao, a 76-year-old local resident, was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Euclid Street and Edinger Avenue shortly after 8:10 p.m. when reports indicate she was struck by a crossover vehicle which left the scene. Immediately after, she was run over by a car described as a White Mercedes-Benz from the early teens and died at the scene before or after she was taken from underneath the car by first-responders. The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene and was cooperative. Authorities do not believe that DUI was a factor in that case. Meanwhile, the search for the crossover vehicle and it’s driver is underway. The Fountain Valley Police Department is investigating and seeking out witnesses.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
