JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities are continuing to search for a vehicle and driver that fled the scene after striking and killing a pedestrian in Jurupa Valley Saturday evening, May 23. The deadly hit and run happened on the 1300 block of Rubidoux Blvd.
Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 8:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Torres later reported.
When officials arrived they found a victim down in the west, dirt shoulder of Rubidoux Blvd. The man had sustained major traumatic injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to Torres.
Officials have since identified the victim as Robert Ibrahim, 41, of Temecula. A coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 8:42 p.m.
Based on the circumstances, members of Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Deputies interviewed the person who called 911 and reported the collision, who told them they witnessed a vehicle hit the victim in the southbound #2 lane of Rubidoux Blvd.
According to the witness, the driver did not stop after fatally striking the victim and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, driving southbound on Rubidoux Blvd.
The witness described the vehicle as a dark colored sedan, which may have sustained damage to the front passenger side and side view mirror.
