Juan Cruz and Karisa Serrato have been identified by authorities as the deceased victims of a collision that occurred in the City of Oxnard on September 4 at roughly 11:30 p.m.. Mr. Cruz, 19, was reportedly driving at a high speed down South Victoria in a 1991 Pontiac Firebird, when his car ran into a 2006 Lexus GS 430. Ms. Serrato, 20, was a passenger in the Firebird. Mr. Cruz died at the scene. Ms. Serrato was ejected from the vehicle; she was rushed to the hospital but later died. Another passenger, 19 year-old Martin Celis was seriously hurt but is reportedly in stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center.
The 34 year old driver of the Lexus suffered no injuries. The individual reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The incident is currently under investigation.
According to a witness, the boat was moving at a high velocity through a slow area and a number of people were screaming. Authorities say they are investigating the accident to determine whether or not the boat’s operator will be charged criminally. The incident occurred on September 5 at approximately 3:00 p.m.
