Juan Silva Casares, a 48-year-old Creston resident, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a two vehicle collision that occurred on August 7 in San Luis Obispo. Mr. Casares was a passenger in a 1997 Ford F-10 pick-up truck driven by Federico Lopez Torres, also of Creston, which was headed towards the meeting of Highway 41 and Highway 46. Meanwhile, a Honda Odyssey driven Zi Tao Pan, a 39-year-old Fresno resident, reportedly attempted to turn left to enter the other highway, directly in front of the pick-up truck. Mr. Casares, who authorities say was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Eight people total were hurt, including another Creston resident, 45-year-old Francisco Silva, who was airlifted for treatment for severe injuries. Also hurt was Xiuyu Yang and Mr. Torres.
