Joseph Galizio, a 79-year-old Oceanside resident, has been identified by authorities as the victim in an accident that occurred after 10:45 p.m. on June 29 in San Diego. According to the driver involved in the tragedy, 59, Mr. Galizio walked into traffic on Kurtz Street in the vicinity of Pacific Highway and she was unable to stop her Toyota Prius in time to avoid hitting the elderly man. First responders took the man to the hospital, but he perished from his injuries prior to 11:30 p.m. The incident is being investigated, authorities say.
