Yolanda Gutierrez, Juan Gabriel Luna Carranza,and Ramon Suastegui Arreola has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision that occurred on October 5 in Shafter. Ms. Gutierrez, a 19-year-old local resident, was driving a Chevrolet Impala prior on Orange Street prior to 4:00 p.m. when she allegedly speeded through a stop sign at Poplar Avenue and struck an Infiniti sedan. The car was driven by Mr. Carranza, a 27-year-old Bakersfield resident and Mr. Arreola, also 27 and a resident of Alpaugh, was a passenger. The two-young men died at the scene. Ms. Gutierrez and another passenger in the Infiniti, who was injured to a greater or lesser extent, were taken for treatment. Sadly, the young woman died at the hospital. An investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
