Jonathen Maldonado has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a pedestrian collision that occurred in Hesperia on October 16. Mr. Maldonado, a 24-year-old Apple Valley and father of two, was apparently walking northward on Mariposa Road near its intersection with Live Oak Street at roughly 7:00 p.m. when he was struck by a Honda Odyssey and died very shortly thereafter. The driver of the SUV reported stopped and cooperated with authorities. Prior to the accident, Mr. Maldonado allegedly was in an altercation with his girlfriend an allegedly assaulted the woman on the Interstate 15 near Main Street. He got out of the vehicle and started to walk towards the site of his death. Witnesses are being sought by authorities.
