Joe Faz has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in a head-on collision that occurred on August 19 in Fresno. Mr. Faz, a 68-year-old Sanger resident, was a passenger in a Chevrolet SUV that was stopped on Highway 180 waiting to make a left turn at about 1:40 p.m. when it was struck by a big-rig truck. Apparently, the truck driver did not notice the SUV and entered its lane. First-responders found Mr. Faz dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV had to be pulled from the wreckage of the car. The woman was critically injured and taken to an area hospital. The truck’s driver remained at the scene and was not injured. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the tragic mishap.
