Joe Delucas as the victim in an alleged DUI multi-vehicle collision that occurred on September 29 in Long Beach. Mario Medrano has been charged in connection with the tragic crash. Mr. Delucas, a 30-year-old Los Angeles resident, was a passenger in a Nissan Altima being driven by Mr. Medrano, a 31-year-old Norwalk resident. The car was on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) south of Loynes Drives at about 5:00 p.m. when authorities say it veered into the opposing lane and collected with a 1990s era-Nissan pickup truck which, in turn, collided with a Honda Pilot and a Toyota Prius. Mr. Delucas died at the scene while six other individuals were taken to area hospitals for the treatment of their injuries. Mr. Medrano was arrested on charges of murder and driving under the influence.
