Jermaine Butler Sr. has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred in West Oakland on March 4. Mr. Butler was apparently walking on Market Street before 10:30 a.m. when he was hit by an auto. First responders took Mr. Butler to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the 2008 Dodge Magnum which struck the victim, 41, remained at the scene and was cooperative, reports indicated. Police are investigating whether alcohol or drugs may have been a factor.
