Javiar Gomez, a 16-year-old resident of Oxnard, has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in an automotive collision that took place on November 30 in Orcutt. The boy was a passenger in a Honda Accord that was being driven by Francisco J. Gomez, also a resident of Oxnard and 50 years of age, just prior to 6:00 p.m. on Highway 101. Meanwhile, Rosalio Gutierrez, a 46-year-old Parlier resident, was behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry that was heading eastward toward Cat Canyon Road and started to make a left turn into the path of the Accord. Javiar Gomez was critically injured and taken to an area medical center, but died shortly thereafter. The drivers and other passengers only received minor injuries. DUI has been ruled out as the cause of the accident, reports indicate, but the tragic incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this very difficult time.
