Jarnail Singh has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in an automotive collision that occurred in Bakersfield on May 12 and injured several other individuals. Mr. Singh, 58, was a passenger in a Nissan Sentra heading west on Curnow Road and being driven by Gurmit Singh Rai, 71. At the intersection with South Union Ave., Mr. Rai stopped at stop sign but apparently failed to notice a Nissan Titan pickup truck heading that street at 55 mph. Mr. Singh, who was in the right rear seat of the Sentra, reportedly died from his injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, another passenger was seriously hurt while Mr. Rai received a minor injury. The occupants of the pickup truck were not seriously injured. The deadly mishap is being investigated by authorities. The driver of the pickup, 54-year-old Terry Taylor, received a minor injury but declined treatment.
