Jaiah Metcalf and Alazae Jeffrey, have been identified as victims in collision that occurred in Vacaville sometime on the morning of June 1. Ms. Metcalf, a 21-year-old Sacramento resident, and Ms. Jeffrey, a 19-year-old resident of Elk Grove, were passengers in a vehicle being driven by Sacramento resident Tayshawn Larun Clayton. Mr. Clayton was apparently fleeing police who were trying to pull the vehicle leading to a high-speed pursuit on the Interstate 80 that came to a tragic end near an AM/PM market on Alamo Drive, resulting in the deaths of the two young women. Mr. Clayton was arrested on multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and evading police.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and families of the victims during this difficult time.
