Isadora Stabel has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in an alleged DUI hit-and-run collision that occurred August 22 in Irvine. Ms. Stabel, a 20-year-old local resident, was riding in the backseat of a Hyundai Elantra at about 8:45 p.m. when the car was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck at the intersection of Main Street and Culver Drive. Authorities say that the driver of the pickup was 40-year-old Antonio Calixto Navarrete who, they alleged, immediately left the area without attempting to help. Ms. Stabel was rushed to an area medical center for attention but she passed away from her injuries. Authorities say they located Mr. Navarrete and determined him to be under the influence and that he has a previous DUI conviction on his record. He has been arrested on charges of hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and murder. Authorities are continuing the investigation of the tragic death of the young woman.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this very difficult time.
