Jose Garcia-Cerron has been identified by authorities as the deceased in an SUV collision that occurred in Arvin on April 21. Mr. Garcia-Cerron, a 67-year-old local resident, was one of six inviduals in an older Chevrolet Suburban SUV that was being driven near the crossing of Fairfax Road and Highway 223/Bear Mountain Road prior to about 5:40 a.m. When the SUV attempted to turn left, it was struck by a Dodge Caliber SUV. Mr. Garcia-Cerron was apparently already dead by the time first-responders arrived, while the five others in the Suburban and the three people inside the Dodge were all treated for injuries described as minor. The crash remains under investigation to determine fault.
