Hugo Navarrete, 18, been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision that took place on the 10 Freeway and the 5 Freeway in the Boyle Heights neighborhood near East Los Angeles on April 5 just prior to 11:30 p.m. Details are sketchy but Mr. Navarrete and others were in one or more vehicles on the transition between the 10 and the 5. The 18-year-old received the worst injuries and died at the scene. Two others were rescued from a vehicle by first-responders and presumably hospitalized. There were other people present who reports indicated received less serious injuries and refused treatments. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
