
The motorcyclist died following a collision with a cargo van driven by Daniel Barron.
Modesto, CA, November 6, 2020 – Gary Ortiz has been identified by authorities as the victim in a motorcycle vs. cargo van collision that occurred on October 31 in Modesto. Gary Ortiz, a 51-year-old resident of Ceres, was riding a 1995 Harley Davidson on 9th Street near Lombardo Avenue prior to 7:30 p.m. when reports say that a 2007 Chevrolet cargo van driven by Daniel Barron, age 56, turned left directly in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision. The motorcyclist was taken for treatment by first responders to a medical scene but he tragically died from his injuries. Reports say that Daniel Barron, who was not hurt, remained at the scene and a DUI is not suspected. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash, however.
