Emilio Perez has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian collision that took place on in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles on November 21; driver Vanessa Gutierrez, 35, turned herself on December 4 to face charges. Mr. Perez, a 34-year-old homeless man, was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk with a shopping cart at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Lake Street at roughly 10:45 p.m. Ms. Gutierrez allegedly was driving a rental Tesla that may not have been rented by her and speeding when she struck Mr. Perez.
