Hit-and-run is alleged in the case of a a 33-year-old Gardena woman who authorities say was fatally run-down on Vermont Avenue near 186th Street in a southern Los Angeles neighborhood.
Los Angeles, CA, January 24, 2022 — Elizabeth Ruiz has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian collision that occurred on January 21 in Harbor Gateway, a neighborhood in the southern harbor area of Los Angeles. Elizabeth Ruiz, a 33-year-old Gardena resident, was reportedly attempting to cross Vermont Avenue near 186th Street . According to information attributed to the Los Angeles Police Department, some time after 11:00 p.m. she was struck by a vehicle described as a “black, early model, medium-sized sedan.” First-responders arrived but the woman tragically died at the scene. Meanwhile, the LAPD allest that the driver of the sedan failed to stop and made no attempt to help the victim. The LAPD notes that is offers up to $50,000 reward for information leading to the successful resolution of fatal hit-and-run cases as the investigation and search for the suspect continues.
