RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Authorities investigating a fatal, solo-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle say alcohol intoxication is suspected to be a contributing factor in the deadly accident Sunday afternoon, June 28.
City of Riverside Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to Victoria Ave., west of John St. around 4:30 p.m., after the City’s Public Safety Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting a solo motorcycle traffic collision with injuries, Riverside Police Department has since said of the deadly crash.
When officials arrived they found the downed rider near a black 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
“The motorcyclist suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Riverside Fire personnel,” said RPD.
Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified the victim as 35-year-old, Frank Escalera, of Riverside as the man killed in the crash. A coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 4:52 p.m.
Officers later determined Escalara was traveling westbound on Victoria Ave. when his motorcycle “left the roadway entering the dirt center divider, where he struck rose bushes and a palm tree,” explained RPD; adding, “At this time, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor.”
