Diane Ruby has been identified by authorities as the victim in a bicycle collision that occurred on May 24 in Chico. Ms. Ruby, 63, was riding a bicycle on Humboldt Road at roughly 10:00 a.m. when she encountered an SUV that had reduced its speed and veered away, reportedly to avoid a different bicycle rider. This apparently caused the woman to lose control of the bicycle, colliding with the vehicle. First responders arrived and took the room to an area medical center for treatment where she passed away from her injuries. Authorities report that they do not suspect a DUI or excessive speed in the tragic crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
